Brenda asked about lensrolling.
I have to admit: I’m not one to do a lot of lensrolling myself.
I used to lensroll my own lenses to all my other lenses, but I’ve stopped doing that as you could see on my newest lenses. Instead use the featured lenses module to link out to relevant lensographies (I have several) and closely related lenses.
For closely related lenses (my squidoo help lenses) I’ve created a link-plexo that just gets added at the bottom of each of those lenses.
So lensrolling for me has stopped being about linking to my own lenses.
As for linking to other peoples lenses: I do that on lensographies as well. And I do that here
In some cases I link to very appropriate lenses. For instance when EnslavedByFairies made a lens on the Cottingley Fairy Photographs I could not in all good conscience afford to NOT feature that lens on my lens about the Theosophical Society. Good content almost forces a link.
Let’s face it: lensrolling does give a link. And that link counts in google. So lensrolling is one way to do SEO in squidoo. But that link is positioned in a place where few people will look. Which means the only reason to put it there is for SEO purposes and I never like that sort of thing.
I’ve lensrolled a few lenses by others here and there – and will continue doing so I suppose – but for me it’s not a very important way to show lensmasters my appreciation. It isn’t for nothing that I did not make a point about lensrolling on my lens about how to become popular on squidoo. If I really want to advertise someones work, I will most likely feature it here (as I will tomorrow – come back for it!). I also like the practice of making a lensography devoted to lenses you like as some lensmasters do. I personally choose to focus on making lensographies about a topic – and then feature appropriate (great) lenses there.
So in conclusion: Brenda, you will have to find your own way in this. Lensrolling is still one of the ways to show your appreciation to a fellow lensmaster and giving them a (hopefully relevant) link. For me it’s not the preferred way, but each of us has to find our own path through the many features of squidoo to the ones that best fit our personality.

I have started adding a module on my new lenses that includes links to bios or lensographies of lensmasters who have helped me with that lens if they have answered a question on SquidU.
Also if I see something on another lens that gives me an idea, I will acknowledge it in my lens. For example the l have got an idea for my lensography from Chef Keem so when I add the module I will tell my readers where I got the idea from.
Apart from adding relevant links, I think we all agree that it is also good manners to give credit where credit is due.
